McQueen replacement

Sarah Burton has been officially been named as the new creative director of Alexander McQueen. Since the unfortunate and untimely death of the infamous designer the search was on to find someone who could stay true to Alexander's avant garde ethos. Sarah was head of womenwear for the brand and has worked closely alongside Alexander since 1996.Jonathan Akeroyd, president and CEO of Alexander McQueen said “Having worked alongside Lee McQueen for more than 14 years, [Sarah] has a deep understanding of his vision, which will allow the company to stay true to its core values.” She studied at Central Saint Martins and began working with McQueen while she was still studying. She was chosen to finish his final collection for A/W 2010 which was shown in a Paris Salon this Febuary.
