The Man Behind The Mask.......

Internationally renowned, Simon Costin is the the art director and set designer behind many of the great designers and photographers of today. Signed to CLM agency in New York he is a British born creative prodigy boasting three degrees in film making, theatre designing and history of art. He worked as McQueen's art director for 8 years with an initial meeting coming about when McQueen asked to borrow some of his art works for a show very early in his career. He has also worked creating the catwalk set designs for Gareth Pugh and designs sets for photographer Tim Walker. His creativity has many facets from designing jewellery to specialising in taxidermy, a hobby that started at a young age when he joined a natural history club. He has now begun a project all of his own called the Museum of British Folklore where he gathered money through charity in order for him to travel through Britain in a caravan painted in fairground scroll wearing a Gareth Pugh cape and Steve Jones hat to discover and celebrate British indigenous folklore traditions. A brilliant genius, here are some images of his work that I find inspirational. Enjoy...
