Pringle Prefall '10

Argyle brings to mind golf, Scotland, nerds, grandads and all things uncool. But sometimes the nerdiest things can become the sexiest. Like those black horn rimmed glasses that were en Vogue not so long ago.The argyle pattern is made of diamonds that overlap creating a three dimensional effect. Originating in Scotland it derived from the tartan of Clan Campbell, of Argyll in Scotland. It has been used as a signiture motif for brand Pringle of Scotland in this century. After dying a death the company relaunched itself in 2000 with it's first creative director Clare Waight Keller pushing the brand into the luxury arena making it cool again by designing beautiful cashmere fashion forward pieces. While walking around Soho a few years back absorbing all the visual wonders of the city I remember spotting loads of girls sporting argyle socks pulled up to knee, with ankle / knee high boots over them and of course bare legs with denim shorts or mini dress to finish. Effortless style. I remember thinking it was pretty rad.....

The Weight Debate ....

Chrystal Renn at her Skinniest

Chrystal Renn is a smouldering hot beauty. Born in Miami Florida in 1986, she was always such a tomboy that her Mum sent her to a modelling school to learn etiquette and posture as a teenager. She was scouted at 14 but was told she would have to loose one third of her body weight to succeed in the industry. Chrystal starved herself to near death exercising for at her own admission 2 hours every day and up to 7 on weekends. Renn realised how miserable she was and how her health was suffering. She dropped out of the fashion world, gained weight and was resigned to the Ford agency as a plus sized model. She wrote a book called "Hungry" detailing her ordeal and struggle with her weight. With her demand soaring she is now even more popular than before recently walking for the Chanel Resort '11 show. Having shifted a little weight and probably being more toned than when she first emerged as a plus size Renn is now causing controversy with some saying that she has succumbed to loosing weight again in order to fit the model profile. Chrystal denys this saying she has naturally lost some weight in the past year and does not monitor her diet. Personally, I think she looks fantastic now. She is still curvy, beautiful and is glowing with health. She has lost some weight but so what? Lets not the build the girl up to tear her down. She has broken boundaries with top designers using her for catwalk and editorial work. She has made it OK to be curvy in fashion and showed that high fashion can look even better on a more natural frame.

And Now ....

New Look in the Jervis Centre.....

New Look finally opened it's doors to the fashion crazy public Friday 5th November. We have long been waiting for it's arrival. Now the dreaded R word has taken hold and we are all watching our pennies a little more, it is great to have New Look in the city centre for choice on the cheaper side. When Topshop has started to feel a little expensive our only other option was to trot over the Haypenny bridge and trawl through Pennys or H&M. Here are a few exciting pieces New Look have to offer and all for under or just over Euro 50. Forever 21 will be opening 13th November in Jervis too so all bargainistas will certainly be having a lot more choice.

Idol Link Dress ( print very like McQueen)

Leopard Box Clutch (super cute and leopard need I say more)

Wedge Studded ( a take on the clog for maximum height )

Camel Toe No No ........

I never like to post about style I don't like. Each to their own and I love it when people go against the norm and come up with something totally original. Josephine de La Baume is the totally hot French actress and DJ girlfriend of Mark Ronson. I would probably describe her style as very romantic, kittenish mixed with rock. She recently attended an event wearing this gold sparkley one piece. Even though she has an amazing figure I think it really does her no justice. It was just too skin tight. A one piece can look amazing especially when worked in more of a 70's vibe plus lots of ethnic jewellery. See Florence for inspiration. Kudos to Josephine for originality and being brave though.

Erdem Floraltastic ......

Just when you thought floral was tired and dated Erdem comes out of nowhere and reinvents the wheel making floral cool again. Mishmashing digital floral prints making it bold and bright and really current. Showing he is not a one trick pony Erdem included some beautiful lace dresses in this collection. The collection was inspired by his immersion in Japanese culture and art on a recent trip to Kyoto. See shoes in the collection are inspired by Geisha.Perfect for summer garden parties! J'adore.

Studs..

Studs Studs and more Studs. Add them to something and I will love it instantly. Check the stud jeans and the stud shoes. My Giles Deacon bag for Mulberry has them

Lanvin H&M Collection Lookbook

Finally some images of the new Lanvin and H&M collaberation. Alber has certainly pulled it out of the bag. This collection is everything I thought it would be. He has stayed true to his mission. To bring luxury to the highstreet. Here are some of the best pieces. Remember it is launching 23rd November so pick the pieces you want and get ready to queue.......

Tutti Fruiti....

Stella Mc Cartney S/S '11

If there was ever a print to cause such debate from fashion critics, it has certainly been this one. Stella brought this citrus fresh print to the mostly white palette she was working with for S/S 11. I love this print for totally nostalgic reasons. Twelve years old and I was in 1st year of Secondary school. Our first non uniform day, clueless era, think lots of stretchy hipster pants with chain belts. My best friend Laura came to school in the most wonderful two piece ever. Shiny lycra white skirt and top covered in oranges. This print in Stellas collection really brings back memories of that. Our innocence and experimentation with fashion .............................
